Knowledge Management has become a trendy concept that has been used a great deal in the private sector. As I saw the phenomenon developing, I became concerned that the not-for-profit sector was missing out on some of the applications of the internet that seemed to flow from taking a knowledge management approach to the new technology. As a result, I wrote a paper, Knowledge Management in the Public Interest, that I presented at the Canadian Association of University Continuing Education conference in 2002 raising some of these concerns. I then wrote Applications of the Internet for Public Legal Education which looks at how those of us in public legal education in particular might make more use of the internet.
